The trucking industry can change lives and open doors for people. According to Kyle Check, his beginnings in the trucking industry in 2015 were by happenstance. He met his wife through the industry and had a son. Now, he is a successful member of the trucking industry and an integral part of securing donations for Wreaths Across America.
This week on Trucking Tributes, host Elisabeth Barna welcomes Check, the Western Sales Director for Pressure Systems International (PSI), the global leader in tire management solutions. Check also serves as the vice chair for the San Diego Imperial Unit within the California Trucking Association.
Check expressed his amazement at the veterans’ wreaths at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
“I think it’s a very grounding thing that makes you appreciate certain things in your life.”
He said that it could be covered more. He strives to use his connections in the trucking industry to influence others to donate. Through his work with the California Trucking Association, he made donations to Wreaths Across America and helped ensure that more headstones at his local San Diego cemetery have veterans’ wreaths.
Barna and Check talked about his five-year-old son, who decorates his bedroom with patriotic paraphernalia and walls of red, white and blue. Check discussed the importance of educating his son about the meanings behind these symbols. “But to me, to be a good dad, I think it’s important for me to show that we can’t just say we love the military and have the flags and stuff. I think it’s important to give back and actually show the appreciation because these men and women are going out on the line and putting their lives in danger,” Check said.
Tune in to Trucking Tributes on Wreaths Across America Radio’s Trucking Tuesday at 10 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. EST to hear more about Check’s involvement in the industry. You can also listen on demand on SoundCloud here.
